The New Birth

Christian Science teaches that the acceptance and demonstration of one's own true selfhood as it exists in Christ, Truth, is the new birth of which Jesus spoke to Nicodemus when he said, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3; The new birth is not a rebirth of matter but the birth of the Christ in human thought.

Nicodemus, like many other people, believed that man is material and mortal. But Christ Jesus made the distinction between the human belief of life in matter and real Life, which is spiritual and immortal. He said to Nicodemus: "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." vv. 6, 7;

God is ever guarding, guiding, and giving good to all His children. So the acceptance of the Christ, the Son of God, which reveals the true selfhood of ourselves and of all men, frees us from false beliefs, from mistakes and wrongdoing. Step by step the Christ replaces discord with harmony.
